The team
Orbius was started by Alex Ellvers in 2016. Alex has applied years of practical learning, from working on luxury yachts to managing house refurbishments in London and beyond to design and build the highest quality kitchens, furniture and cabinetry bespoke to each client’s specific needs.
Alex is sometimes joined in the workshop by his wife, Venetia and other trusted craftspeople. It is very important to us that we are fully involved in every project from start to finish to ensure every project is perfect. For this reason, we will only ever have a couple of projects live at any one time.
Bespoke Craftsmanship
The bespoke element of our work is integral to our ethos. Our uncompromising insistence on design and function means that every one of our projects is designed from the ground up to fit and suit your needs and your house’s specific space whilst still looking amazing.

sustainability
We believe in the longevity of what we build and that you’ll get many years of use and enjoyment out of it. We are not interested in building for short term consumerism and for our work to be ripped out and added to landfill. This is why the quality of materials and construction is paramount.
Many of our projects include wood specifically milled from trees that have fallen naturally on the family’s farm in Scotland, which is then brought south and incorporated into our work. This means Alex has worked with and handled each of these pieces from tree to finished product. We believe this brings a unique dimension to Orbius’s work. For each of the fallen trees, we have planted at least two saplings.
Scenes from the workshop
In our workshop we incorporate traditional techniques with some of the best cutting edge machinery, which helps us deliver consistency and speed. Each project is started and finished in the same space and we fully build and refine every piece here before it is delivered to you.
